House Concerts with Cletis Carr

House Concerts are informal shows, usually held in people's own homes or small halls. They have been around for some time amongst the folk music scene, and are now gaining exceptional popularity in the US and Europe. House Concerts are a great way to have an intimate, personalised and interactive experience and avoid the ills of pubs/clubs, etc.

How it works:

You provide:
A (preferably) smoke-free space that can seat at least 20 or more people comfortably. It can be in your home living room, your backyard or deck, a local community centre or function room, your local church, even a restaurant or café after hours.

Either a suggested donation at the door per person or sell tickets beforehand. On some occasions, I may be able to perform for donations and CD sales if a door fee is not an option. We can also agree on a reasonable flat-fee, if that is easier for you.

Depending on what town you’re in, and Cletis’ tour schedule, accommodation for the night would be welcome.

Cletis provides:
An intimate 2+ hour performance, complete with stories, anecdotes and assorted jocularity, with a small vocal P.A. system. CDs and other merchandise will be available at a special discounted rate.

The tried and true method that most house concert hosts use is to send invitations in advance (friends, neighbours, etc), solicit RSVP's, and possibly even ask that tickets be purchased in advance.

Cletis will work with you to help promote the show. If you wish, you can also choose to open up your house concert to the public – it’s up to you. You may need to check with your local authorities regarding noise issues (which would be minimal anyway), whether or not you’re planning to serve alcohol, parking, etc.

Overseas fans should check with Cletis ASAP to see when he’s touring their country.

A House Concert is a lot of fun and a wonderful environment to enjoy some great music.
